On the top floor of the seven-story residential building, accessible by an elevator, lies this elegant furnished penthouse with a living space of approximately 167 m2. Similar to Karl-Marx-Allee, Frankfurter Allee is characterized by the so-called "sugar baker" houses - impressive residential buildings erected in the 1950s in the style of socialist classicism and listed as historical monuments. In 2017, this penthouse was built around the original walls of the listed roof, creating this unique living style above the roofs of Berlin. The original facade elements and the structures of the existing architecture were cleverly integrated into the newly created living space, creating a unique atmosphere. Berlin's history meets modern comfort. Large windows ensure well-lit rooms, and the ceiling height of 3 meters creates a pleasant living atmosphere. The heart of the penthouse is the nearly 40 m2 large living area with floor-to-ceiling windows, an adjacent, high-quality designed kitchen, and access to the highlight of the penthouse: the nearly 95 m2 large southwest-facing terrace, extending over three sides. Here, one can relax amid bustling Berlin and enjoy a fantastic view of Berlin landmarks such as the TV tower and the Frankfurter Tor. The terrace is adorned with large olive trees, cherry blossoms, maple, and apple plants. Fresh Italian herbs and strawberries are also prepared for spring and can be individually planted or harvested as desired. The main bedroom facing the quiet north side impresses with the adjacent walk-in wardrobe and another private, nearly 16 m2 large balcony. Furthermore, this penthouse accommodates two additional rooms currently used as children's rooms and a separate bedroom/guest room. The penthouse is stylishly furnished with high-quality amenities (triple-glazed soundproof windows, built-in air conditioning integrated into the roof in all rooms, chic fitted kitchen with Bora hob, built-in wardrobes, etc.) and is available for a temporary rental of 7 months, and potentially longer by agreement, as the owners are temporarily moving abroad for a trial period.
LOCATION
The two impressive towers at the Frankfurter Tor - now a landmark of Berlin - are visible from afar. Immediately west of the Frankfurter Tor starts Frankfurter Allee, the former splendid and parade street of the GDR, where the penthouse is located at its beginning. Here, you live at a historic address and in a potential UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site: Like Karl-Marx-Allee, Frankfurter Allee is characterized by the so-called "sugar baker" houses, commonly referred to as "Stalinist buildings" in the vernacular and designed by architect Hanns Hopp. It adopts the Berlin Classicism influenced by Karl Friedrich Schinkel but was constructed in the typical Soviet monumental architecture due to political interests, which is representative of all buildings constructed on the former Stalinallee, flanking the representative boulevard. The street ensemble was designed by six different architects: Prof. Hermann Henselmann, Egon Hartmann, Richard Paulick, Kurt W. Leucht, Hanns Hopp, and Karl Souradny.
Friedrichshain is one of the liveliest neighborhoods in Berlin. The "sugar baker" houses are popular among creatives: Many international artists reside here, and large photo galleries operate their showrooms. Friedrichshain gains a lot of charm from being a mature and authentic neighborhood. Especially around the Boxhagener Platz, which is within immediate walking distance, there are restaurants and cafés of all kinds, organic supermarkets, post offices, florists, pastry shops, antique shops, a weekly market, small cobblers, dry cleaners, and toy stores - a very authentic neighborhood life with everything one needs for daily life. Larger shopping centers are also nearby, as well as Alexanderplatz, just a few minutes away. Transport-wise, the penthouse at Frankfurter Tor is excellently connected, with stops for the U-Bahn line 5 (direct connection to the main station) and tram line M10 located right in front of the building.
Additionally, there is the option to rent a parking space in the neighbors' underground garage in Rigaer Straße for €80 per month. The owners did not use this option themselves as there are also free parking options behind the house.
