Living in Kreuzberg at Mariannenplatz is simply a way of life!
Once upon a time, the wall that divided Berlin into East and West – the GDR and the FRG – ran not far from here.
The large square designed by Peter Joseph Lenné in the middle of the 19th century with its park-like character and spacious meadow invites you to linger. Family celebrations, street festivals and cultural events often take place here.
Another institution on Mariannenplatz is the Bethanien Art Quarter. Various cultural institutions settled here in the former deaconess hospital after it was shut down and then occupied in the 70s.
On the north side of the square stands the St. Thomas church of Friedrich Adler.
The beautiful and sunny Görlitzer Park is only a few minutes’ walk away.
